Another Wilkinson Construction Home Hits the Mark

Another Tim Wilkinson home perched above the great Missouri and surrounded by the Little Belts and Highwood Mountains has proved itself worthy of its grand location on Spring Tree Ridge.
Last year a Tim Wilkinson Construction home on Spring Tree Ridge swept the Parade of Homes awards in its category and this year’s entry captured awards for Best Kitchen, Best Master Bath and Curb Appeal.
A design/build company started by his father John in 1956, Tim joined the family business in 1993 and took over the company in 2006 at his father’s passing. Tim is proud of implementing a creative approach instead of a commonly used cookie cutter method to building. A hands-on and in-house approach ensures that each house is unique and meets the needs and wishes of every homeowner.
The latest project is a spec house, which gave Tim more creative freedom in the design. The two-story home combines rustic and modern elements creating a dramatic profile at the ridge top location.
When you spot the home perched on Spring Tree Ridge you might first notice the sloping, canted front wall with a bank of large windows finished in a distinctive weathered steel board and batten siding with a warm rusty tone that is contrasted by gray stucco. The chartreuse front door will also catch your attention – a bold and striking effect that proclaims that this house is not dull or ordinary. A glass paneled deck and assorted size windows also add interest to an exterior that is both elegant and eccentric.
As you enter the home the soaring vaulted ceiling, open floor plan and plentiful windows create an airy and uplifting atmosphere. A classy and contemporary style prevails, accented by complementary finishes such as the exposed rustic beams spanning the vaulted ceiling, stained charcoal gray. A muted eggplant accent wall in the living area wall sets off the fireplace with its subtle silver plaster surround, canted to echo the adjacent window wall. The front hall features a sliding barn door that was custom built in the Wilkinson shop along with another sliding barn door used in the master bedroom.
The kitchen faces the living area and inspiring views. A center island topped with white quartz with slender veins of gray quartz has a waterfall design that continues gracefully over the side. A coffered ceiling and a trio of tall graceful European style pendants over the island create a striking centerpiece for the large kitchen. Modern shaker-style cabinets in a gray-stained cherry were built in Wilkinson’s cabinet shop along with all the matching trim work ensuring a seamless and polished look throughout the home. A hand-made silver metallic tile back-splash ties in with the gleaming stainless steel appliances from Eklunds Appliance in Great Falls. A walk-around door-less pantry keeps supplies convenient and out-of-sight.
Also on the first floor are the spacious laundry room, the master bedroom and bathroom, and a bedroom (that also could be used as an office) with an additional bathroom. The home includes a state-of-the art sound system and Smart Wiring installed by Good Vibrations. City Lights provided lighting as well as contemporary outlets and switches with electronic ports.
Tim’s sisters Vicki Haines and Paula Wilkinson collaborated to create the interior design and contributed original artwork. A color scheme of warm grays with accents of eggplant and chartreuse is found throughout the home. Floors and carpets are also neutral colors favoring shades of grays with a gray-washed walnut flooring and gray, taupe and off-white carpeting from Floors & More.
Large windows in the master bedroom take advantage of the expansive views. The master bath keeps the neutral colored theme with a floating vanity topped with dramatic white and gray vertical-grained marble with a striking striped effect that is also used in a glass walk-in shower. The canted wall theme is carried through again in the shape of the freestanding tub. A skylight in the walk-in closet adds to the convenience of this roomy space.
A stylish glass baluster and staircase leads to the walkout lower level, which includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a family room, offering lots of extra space for young families to spread out or for visitors. Right outside the downstairs living area is a patio area with a gas fireplace providing a nice gathering place.
The Parade of Homes awards is a good indication that after 60 years Wilkinson Construction continues to produce winning ideas and homes. Seems like a great way to celebrate a 60-year anniversary.
